Costa De Oro
Activities
  • Golf: Golfing in Mazatlan is superb! Estrella Del Mar runs parallel with over three miles of beach, including six of the holes and fairways right off the beach, with sand, surf, and palms providing spectacular scenery. El Cid Golf and Country Club has an equally impressive 18-hole course which is complemented by the addition of 9 new holes build at a nearby sister resort, and surrounded by a beautiful marina. These are the best-known 18 hole courses in Mazatlan and are considered by many as two of the top courses in all of Mexico. Nature's stunning visuals surrounding these courses are impressive.
  • Pools: A large free-form swimming pool provides exercise or relaxation, complete with waterfalls, rock formations, and palm trees. Comfortable lounge chairs and towel service are provided throughout the pool areas.
  • Water Sports: Enjoy sailing and boating, kayaking, jet skiing, parasailing, boogie boarding and body surfing, banana boat rides - any water activity you like, in the calm waters along the beach. Motorized equipment is available by third party tour providers.

  • Aquarium: Home to sharks, eels, seahorses, lobsters, and hundreds of marine species from around the globe, the Mazatlan Aquarium is a delight - there is a sea museum, a trained seal show, and an auditorium with films about sea life. A small zoo and botanical gardens are nearby.
  • Beach: The resort is on one of Mazatlan's fine beaches, a long, wide ribbon of light brown sand, and perfect for swimming, with calm surf and warm waters. Enjoy sunbathing, strolling along the beach, jogging, brilliant sunsets, and soft starry nights.
  • Fishing: If fishing were the only activity to do in Mazatlan, the quality and thrill of it all would be enough to lure you. Bottom fishing is great for beginners or kids, with light tackle casting or trolling, going after snapper, grouper, and sea bass. Is world-class big game deep sea fishing what you're looking for? Catch mahi-mahi, tuna, swordfish, and blue, black, and stripped marlin. One excursion and you're forever hooked on Mazatlan fishing!

  • Shopping: The Costa de Oro has a small store/shop where you can buy basic groceries and other essentials. In addition, The Golden Zone is filled with fun shops and stores! Golden Zone shopping malls, downtown shopping plazas, and open-air markets are everywhere. Whether you're looking for barber and beauty-hairdresser shops, a newsstand and books, precious stones and silver or other jewelry, beachwear, tourist T-shirts, clothing and swimwear, Mexican handicrafts, hammocks, gifts and souvenirs, leather products, or footwear, you'll find it, and at prices less than any other Mexican resort destination.
  • Tennis (and more): Play on three private courts, where you can rent equipment and secure the services of a tennis instructor. Volleyball and aerobics also available.
  • Exploration and Sight Seeing: Mazatlan has a long and colorful history of Spanish galleons, conquistadors, and legends of buried pirate treasure. Old Mazatlan is a treat for those longing to see Old Mexico and peer into her romantic past. The Angela Peralto Theatre and the central plaza take you back to a time of nobility and old world culture. The central Cathedral reminds you of life in old Colonial Mexico. A half-day city tour will let you see it all. Take a bay cruise and watch the entire shrimp fleet come in. See seals and marine life. Enjoy a day long mountain tour to the Sierra Madre and see Copala, a 500 year old mining village. Tour the cottage industries of pottery and furniture making in Concordia in the foothills. Take a jungle river cruise through the estuaries and waterways and thick lowland vegetation, or go deep-sea fishing in world class waters. Dance, eat, and party at an authentic Mexican fiesta. Cruise to a remote island beach and snorkel, surf or just play in the water.
  • Entertainment: There are pool aerobics, bingo, games and contests, with supervised activities for children ages 5-12. There is so much entertainment in Mazatlan in general. Live music of any variety can be enjoyed throughout the city - Salsa, Mariachi, and anything you can dance to. A walk through the Golden Zone will help you choose as live music floats out of every establishment you walk by. Enjoy Mazatlan!
